Nathan Antokolitz began selling furniture in Pottsville in 1925. Since then, Nathan's has grown into a Furniture & Mattress Superstore, offering the guaranteed lowest price on quality home furnishings, mattresses, and accessories. Nathan's now operates a giant 65,000 sq. foot showroom and distribution center in nearby Hazleton, just twenty-five miles north of the original Pottsville location. Nathan's Furniture & Mattress Superstore has become the premier home furnishings store in northeast PA.

Community Nathan's provides support to a variety of civic and non-profit organizations throughout Northeast Pennsylvania and is well known for it's creation of the Sol Lipton Scholarship Foundation and the Sol Lipton Run Fest named for the 2nd Generation President of Nathan's. More than 50 college scholarships have been awarded since 1981 to deserving high school students in our area.
Nathan's is a proud member of the National Association of Retailers for Consumer Protection, member of the Better Business Bureau, Schuylkill County Chamber of Commerce, and Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce. Nathan's President Ian Lipton currently sits on the Board of Directors of numerous civic organizations within the City of Pottville, and Schuylkill County.

In 2003 Nathan's was named National Home Furnishings Retailer of the Year by the National Home Furnishings Association (NHFA).
In 1993 Nathan's was also named Retailer of the Year by the Tri-State Home Furnishings Association (TSHFA).
Nathan's President Ian Lipton has been named Business Man of the Year in the City of Pottsville.
Nathan's former Interior Designer Norma Lipton was recognized as one of the Most Influential Women in Home Furnishings Industry by NHFA National Retailer Magazine.
